Elizabeth and Sam!

It’s been a really fun week for me with 2 trips to Manhattan and then a trip to Brooklyn to be with Elizabeth and Sam for their Get To Know You Session. I don’t know what it is about the Dumbo area that attracts me. Then take a couple like Elizabeth and Sam and I am lovin’ it!

Prepare To Wed

Last week I took a trip up to a very snowy Round Barn Farm in Waitsfield, Vermont, for a photo session with the fabulous Kate Parker and her awesome website Prepare to Wed. I can’t show you anything yet, but I can show you a little video I made of everything being, for lake of a better word, prepared!

Back in London

Paris, Fini

Our last day in Paris and it was a crazy one. The Louvre, Notre Dame, The Paris Opera House, and a cruise on the Seine River.

Some of these images were multiple images stitched together, like this first one.The Mona Lisa… which was behind some reflective glass and you were about 10 feet away.Venus De Milo.The entry pyramid to the Louvre, from underneath. This is what we saw on our walk from the Louvre to Notre Dame. It was quite hazy out.This above is one of my favorite images from the trip.Notre Dame.The image below starts the Paris Opera house. It was simply amazing. We took a tour and learned some really interesting facts.
The chandelier in the main auditorium is 80 tons! It’s also what inspired the Phantom of the Opera to be written. Somewhere around 1900-1910 a counterweight gave way, fell into the audience, and killed a women. It was her first, and last, opera.

Underneath the main stairwell. One of my favorite spots.And the second floor main hall, which can be rented out for parties, etc.I highly recommend the Seine River cruse at night.And a few more Eiffel Tower photos (I really didn’t plan on taking this many!)

Arc de Triomph!

A quick post before heading to the Louvre this morning. The climb to the top of the Arc de Triomph was breathtaking in more ways than one. But the view of the Eiffel Tower was awesome. Even on a cloudy, foggy day, which is all we’ve seen this trip!

Eiffel Tower

We made it to Paris on the Eurostar! It is just as cold, if not colder, than London. At least we don’t have the snow that we are getting back home in the states!

We got to Paris, checked in, grabbed a baguette, and went to see the Eiffel tower. We didn’t go up in the tower today, but we will probably go up before we leave. Although, we were told that the top of it is closed until after we leave.

Here are a few photos I captured tonight. You can see the rest on Facebook, including color images. There’s just something about black and white images in Paris that make me happy.

I love the guy running through the street. I waited for him to cross the small spot of light.

London, Walk #2

We took another walk through London today. And once again, sun and blue sky! It seems it only comes out when I’m out for pictures. I wanted to take the look of the other photo I took of Big Ben with the sun rays and apply it to todays photos as well.

We Made It To London!

Kelley, baby Mia, and I made it “across the pond” to London! Mia has been a very good baby on this trip, sleeping through most of it. All the new sights and fresh air knock her right out. I gave a workshop to a great group of photographers over here. I did a half day of my RE:Compose Workshop and the second half of the day I talked about Fusion weddings. Then it was onto having a vacation! Kelley and I went into London and went to Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery. Then we walked down to see Big Ben, Parliament (Look kids! Big Ben, Parliament!… Again), and across to Westminster Abbey. I asked if Prince William and Kate needed a photographer for their wedding. I think I’d be able to clear my schedule.

I’ve been told many times on this trip that you don’t often see sun in London, especially this time of year. But look what we saw! A little sun, but blue sky! It didn’t last very long.

And the entrance to Westminster Abbey. The rest of it was beautiful too. We didn’t go in. They are asking about $25 per person to go in! We got a little glimpse from outside.

Alanna and Andre, Belize Preview

Where do I begin??? Let’s take a beautiful couple, bring them to an amazing place, and take some insane photos. Yes please.

Starting with my favorite flowers, that were flown in from Mexico for Alanna and Andre’s wedding, Birds of Paradise.

Their reception dinner was poolside at the Victoria House.The next day we continued taking photos at the Victoria House before heading into downtown San Pedro.

Kelley and I are in a little bit of what’s called Paradise. The Victoria House on San Pedro island in Belize is one of those places that you have to go to to just get away and be pampered by a world class staff. Oh and the food… wow. We are here for Alanna and Andre’s wedding which is today, Saturday, and I just had to post a few previews of what’s been going on!

I have some video which I will post later of our jumper plane flight to the island. It was fun! But the regular flight to Belize city had some great views of clouds. If I could ever be a cloud photographer for a living, sign me up.

This is our room. Cozy, yes. But really how much time will we spend here??The night we arrived there was a little reception outside at the bar.Andre rocking the cowboy hat!One word. Tequila.Alanna was enjoying it too!The staff here at the Victoria House is so accommodating. When someone says “you’ll have to take me back in a wheelbarrow,” they’ll get you one.

The next day the weather was perfect! This is the building we are staying in.This is the chair I am heading to after I post this!Some of the rooms you can rent are unbelievable. Or as the locals joke, UNBELIZEABLE!Another view from our room door.We had lunch in town. Transportation on the island is mostly via golf carts with big tires. This strawberry, banana, mango smoothie was insanely good.Here is the location for the ceremony! We were going over a few details.Then it was off to the rehearsal dinner.

San Diego!

WPPI Wedding Poker Stars

This is Jason Sandifer’s annual Wedding Poker Stars poker tournament at WPPI which was held at the MGM Poker Room. Over 70 photographers participated.

My non-photographer wife Kelley shot the first half of the tournament. Then when I got knocked out I got to play with my camera. Everything was done keeping it simple, which (shameless plug) is the basis for my Fusion Workshop. Hand held, in camera audio, and edited with iMovie.

Inspire Boston

Wow. I’m still coming down off a conference high. Usually I leave a conference or workshop feeling a little overwhelmed, unsatisfied, or just feeling overdone with it. Not this time. I left Inspire Boston feeling energized. Ready to go and ready to improve what I do. This was such an intimate conference, not just networking with area photographers, but with the speakers themselves. I was one of the speakers and I didn’t want to just speak this time. I wanted to make myself available to all the attendees even if they didn’t attend my class. This was what Inspire Boston was about. Photographers meeting and helping photographers. It was the best conference I’ve ever attended and/or spoke at. I already can’t wait for next year.

The organizers, Matt and Enna Grazier, ask me to do a little fusion video for the wrap party. I didn’t know if I could pull it off! With the help of Tony Yu and James Federico, I did. With the skills I taught in my Fusion course, I opened iMovie and put this together in 3 hours. It was ready for the 6pm wrap party.

Aruba!

Ok, a lot of bloggin to catch up on! I was gone for a week with no phone or e-mail. I’ve spent 3 days catching up on everything I missed. I have a few blog posts coming, one with an awesome announcement! But first, our new favorite place… Aruba.

One of my favorite views on this planet, out of the plane window.

This is the beach we spent half of our vacation on.

We took a waverunner out for an hour. 41mph on water is insane.

Probably my second favorite view ever.

Where we stayed.

There were iguana’s roaming the beach!

We had an awesome dinner at the Flying Fishbone. We ate with out feet in the water!

We took a snorkle trip out to a reef and then to a 400ft shipwreck.

Just about every night we sat on the beach and watched the sunset.

Big Mama’s! Possibly the best fish sandwich we ever had.

For a day we rented a Jeep and went off road to the other side of the island where there is basically nothing.

People piled rocks everywhere.

Aruba Here I Come!
